Soil and Water Conservation Society

Ontario Chapter

Membership Information

Who are we?

The Soil and Water Conservation Society (SWCS), founded in 1945, is an international, non-profit scientific and educational organization dedicated to promoting the conservation of soil and water resources. The Ontario Chapter is part of the Canadian Region which comprises five chapters nationwide. The Chapter was established in 1951 to give a focus to SWCS members' interest in conservation issues within the Province of Ontario.

Of the nearly 10,000 SWCS members in the over 80 chapters in Canada and the U.S., more than 150 belong to the Ontario Chapter. Our membership includes a broad representation of professional resource managers including foresters, planners, fish and wildlife biologists, agrologists, engineers, geographers, teachers, and farmers, together with many interested community members.

Membership Benefits

It is the grassroots efforts of SWCS members who help to carry out the Society's mission. Involvement in resource management and planning requires a broad outlook. There are opportunities to network with professionals from many disciplines through local, regional, and international meetings. In addition to receiving interesting and informative Chapter Newsletters and the Conservogram (via e-mail), each member receives the Journal of Soil and Water Conservation six times per year!

How Much Does It Cost?
